You eat with your eyes first.
My mother used to tell me this every night when we sat down to eat dinner. She would have me observe the plate that I created, identify the components of the dish, and understand why the ingredients were combined in such a way. She was teaching me to appreciate food before I appreciated taste.
I want to pass this knowledge my mother taught me on to others. Appreciate the art of food, the beauty of food, and the complex-yet-simple aspects of it. Appreciate and respect food as an art, taste a dish and identify the flavors: bold flavors, subtle undertones, the way tastes marry...and then devour the dish.
Thanks for exploring my gallery, and seeing food the way I see it.
